NatWest tell landlords to evict tenants on benefits

Many of our members in Newham have been turned away by estate agents because they are on housing benefit.

Some banks including NatWest prevent landlords from from renting to people on benefits by putting special clauses in their mortgages.

One landlord with a NatWest mortgage was even told that they have to either evict their current tenant or face an expensive charge just because their tenant receives housing benefit.

Any policy that prevents someone receiving benefits from renting a home pushes people closer to homelessness.

We want a housing system that provides homes for everyone and not profits for big banks!

We demand that NatWest ends its discrimination against people who receive housing benefit!

**Protest at NatWest's Stratford branch to demand it stops asking landlords to evict renters on housing benefit**

Join the Newham and Leytonstone branch of the London Renters Union as we protest at the Stratford branch of the NatWest to demand an end to discrimination against people on housing benefit.

This is part of a day of action coordinated with ACORN and Living Rent. Actions will also be happening in Glasgow, Newcastle, Sheffield, Bristol and Manchester.
